What Are Chicken Nuggets Made Of?

This is mechanically separated chicken. Chickens are turned into this goop so we can create delicious chicken nuggets and juicy chicken patties. It's obscenely gross and borderline alien but it's not going to stop me from eating nuggets. They're too good.

The process works a little something like this:

There's more: because it's crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

Testers fear reality of genetically modified Olympians

Gene doping - in which DNA is introduced into the body using an inactivated virus or by other means - could alter a person's genetic make-up and improve athletic performance by increasing muscle growth, blood production, endurance, oxygen dispersal or pain perception.
Since it cannot be detected, no one really knows whether athletes are using it or not.

http://www.svtplay.se/klipp/198746/lidberg-siktar-pa-os-medalj

A cardiologist turned author advises you to stay clear of wheat

We've heard it for years - choose whole wheat. It's healthier, right?

Maybe not according to more and more medical experts who are now saying something else about whole wheat - it makes you fat!

Heart doctor and author William Davis says the whole wheat you're buying in store isn't what you think.

"What you're being sold, I think, is not wheat," he says "It is a short 2 foot dwarf strain (of wheat) that's the concoction of genetics research."

In his new book titled "Wheat Belly," Dr. Davis explains why eating wheat makes you eat more calories.

"It stimulates your appetite and causes inflammatory changes and a multitude of other health effects that no one tells you about."

One of those health effects is diabetes.

Barclays PLC : Risk Of Global Food Price Inflation Grows On US Drought

LONDON--The risk of another wave of global food price inflation is growing fast, Barclays PLC (BCS) said Wednesday, as U.S. grains and soybeans prices trade within touching distance of all-time highs, due to the nation's worst drought in 56 years, which is massively reducing harvest expectations.

Bad weather in Black Sea grain-exporting regions, a poor start to the Indian monsoons and an incipient El Nino are all adding to weather concerns, the bank said, which suggests that physical tightness could spread from U.S. corn and soybeans to many other regions and crops in coming months.

Rising agricultural commodity prices have sparked severe bouts of food price inflation twice in the past few years, Barclays said, with food riots occurring in many parts of the world in 2007-8 and also contributing to unrest in the Middle East last year.

Now the potential for further production downgrades, strong demand from major food importers and sharply rising input costs all suggest there is significant price upside ahead, Barclays added, especially in wheat, corn and soybeans futures.

Low Carb Living

What do you need to know to successfully eat low carb for life?

Dr Stephen Phinney, MD, PhD, knows more about this than almost anybody. He has researched adaptation to very low carb diets (and exercise) for a long time. Here he shares this knowledge, as well as insights from traditional cultures who never ever ate a lot of carbs.

Göbekli Tepe: the Rise of Agriculture, the Fall of the Nomad

“Here in the north, it’s the heart of the Fertile Crescent,” Klaus spoke as he pointed out across the hills of the Karacadag range off in the distance from the summit of Göbekli Tepe. “The origins of domesticated wheat can be traced to exactly here in this region.”

“You can use it [grain] for food, and you can also use it for beer,” he explained. “There are now ideas that the beginning of cereal domestication was not so much in connection with bread and with food, but with beer making, for brewing. It is easy to do it, it is not like our beer, all you need is water and if let to stand in some container it will start to produce alcohol. So maybe it was beer making at the beginning.

New evidence suggests that it was not agriculture which created civilization, but religion. The June issue of National Geographic offers a brief and provocative story from a place in Turkey known as Göbekli Tepe, site of the world's oldest example of monumental architecture i.e. a temple.

While the interpretation of archeological remains is often as much art as it is science, there is plenty of reason to believe that in Gobekli Tepe people's need/desire to gather for worship is what created civilization, not the reverse,
as was previously assumed. The Temple existed without a city.

Exercise and Low Carb Diets (with Stephen Phinney)!

Ask most health experts how athletes should eat, and you?re likely to hear about a high carbohydrate diet?fruit, pasta, bagels, granola bars, rice. But if all this is true, how do you explain the Inuit of Northern Canada and the Arctic, who could run 30 miles a day beside their sleds, eating a diet that was 85% fat, 15% protein, and carbohydrate free? How do you explain an explorer named Stephanson who lived among the Inuit, ate what they ate, and stayed healthier than explorers eating European food? What about the professional cyclists who ate Inuit style? The more they adapted to a high fat, very low carb diet, the more they could exercise just as fast and long as they had when they were eating mostly carbs. Up next, we'll talk with three experts on low-carbohydrate diets and exercise for both the high-performance athlete and for people working to reverse health problems.

Dr. Weston A. Price

Dr. Weston A. Price (1870-1948), a Cleveland dentist, has been called the "Charles Darwin of Nutrition." In his search for the causes of dental decay and physical degeneration that he observed in his dental practice, he turned from test tubes and microscopes to unstudied evidence among human beings. Dr. Price sought the factors responsible for fine teeth among the people who had them--isolated nonindustrialized people. The world became his laboratory. As he traveled, his findings led him to the belief that dental caries and deformed dental arches resulting in crowded, crooked teeth and unattractive appearance were merely a sign of physical degeneration, resulting from what he had suspected--nutritional deficiencies.Price traveled the world over in order to study isolated human groups, including sequestered villages in Switzerland, Gaelic communities in the Outer Hebrides, Eskimos and Indians of North America, Melanesian and Polynesian South Sea Islanders, African tribes, Australian Aborigines, New Zealand Maori and the Indians of South America. Wherever he went, Dr. Price found that beautiful straight teeth, freedom from decay, stalwart bodies, resistance to disease and fine characters were typical of primitives on their traditional diets, rich in essential food factors. Please enjoy what he had to say. You can also read his biography.

http://www.adlibris.com/se/product.aspx?isbn=9172411759

http://www.hjart-lungfonden.se/HLF/Pressrum/Pressmeddelanden/Assars-hjartsjukdom-en-gata/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fxJbjFHrgE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKsmfu6mObI

Why is George Soros selling gold and buying farmland?

NaturalNews) Food prices are skyrocketing all across the globe, and there's no end in sight. The United Nations says food inflation is currently at 30% a year, and the fast-eroding value of the dollar is causing food prices to appear even higher (in contrast to a weakening currency).

As the dollar drops in value due to runaway money printing at the Federal Reserve, the cost to import foods from other nations looks to double in just the next two years -- and possibly every two years thereafter. That's probably why investors around the globe are flocking to farmland as the new growth industry. "Investors are pouring into farmland in the U.S. and parts of Europe, Latin America and Africa as global food prices soar," reports Bloomberg magazine (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-...). "

A fund controlled by George Soros, the billionaire hedge-fund manager, owns 23.4 percent of South American farmland venture Adecoagro SA."Jim Rogers is also quoted in the same story, saying, "I have frequently told people that one of the best investments in the world will be farmland."

Food Riot Fears Strike Japan After Rice Trading Halted Due To Radiation Contamination

Fears of food riots strike Japan after rice trading is halted due to a 40% price spike triggered by massive hoarding of the remaining radiation free rice supply.

It is time to start paying very close attention the events unfolding in Japan as the nation teeters on the verge of food riots which may serve as an example of what other nations in a similar situation would face.

As we approach the 5 month marker since the onset of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Japan has repeatedly assured the public that the nation’s food supply was safe from radiation. Japan has given those reassurances despite warnings from experts that the nuclear fallout has already surpassed 20 Hiroshima bombs with no end in site and experts say ‘off-scale’ levels of lethal radiation at Fukushima infer millions dying.

Time and again those assurances have proven to be false. Radiation has found in everything from soil and sewage to tea and beef. Even worse, a just released report revealed that Japan ran simulations back as far as 1984 which showed 18,000 deaths from acute radiation exposure and a 55 mile radius would be rendered permanently uninhabitable. All of these factors have entirely destroyed the public’s trust in their government.
