Why Software Is Eating The World

This week, Hewlett-Packard (where I am on the board) announced that it is exploring jettisoning its struggling PC business in favor of investing more heavily in software, where it sees better potential for growth. Meanwhile, Google plans to buy up the cellphone handset maker Motorola Mobility. Both moves surprised the tech world. But both moves are also in line with a trend I've observed, one that makes me optimistic about the future growth of the American and world economies, despite the recent turmoil in the stock market.

In an interview with WSJ's Kevin Delaney, Groupon and LinkedIn investor Marc Andreessen insists that the recent popularity of tech companies does not constitute a bubble. He also stressed that both Apple and Google are undervalued and that "the market doesn't like tech."
In short, software is eating the world.:

Big Data is Creating A Digital Nervous System
What does it mean to have a digital nervous system? The key trait is to make an organization’s feedback loop entirely digital. That is, a direct connection from sensing and monitoring inputs through to product outputs. That’s straightforward on the web. It’s getting increasingly easier in retail. Perhaps the biggest shifts in our world will come as sensors and robotics bring the advantages web companies have now to domains such as industry, transport, and the military.

The reach of digital nervous system has grown steadily over the past 30 years, and each step brings gains in agility and flexibility, along with an order of magnitude more data. First, from specific application programs to general business use with the PC. Then, direct interaction over the web. Mobile adds awareness of time and place, along with instant notification. The next step, to cloud, breaks down data silos and adds storage and compute elasticity through cloud computing. Now, we’re integrating smart agents, able to act on our behalf, and connections to the real world through sensors and automation.

Cass Sunstein Present at the Creation of Wikileaks

Wikileaks Is The "Cognitive Infiltration" Operation Demanded by Cass Sunstein
Wikileaks was apparently founded in 2006. Originally, the group was programmed to attack China, and its board was heavily larded with fishy Chinese dissidents and “democracy” activists from the orbit of the Soros foundations. Interestingly, the first big publicity breakthrough for Wikileaks in the mainstream US media was provided by an infamous totalitarian liberal today ensconced in the Obama White House – none other than Cass Sunstein. In Sunstein’s op-ed published in the Washington Post of February 24, 2007 under the title “Brave new Wikiworld,” we read: “Wikileaks.org, founded by dissidents in China and other nations, plans to post secret government documents and to protect them from censorship with coded software.” How interesting that Sunstein was present at the creation of the new Wikileaks psywar operation!

This is the same Sunstein who today heads Obama’s White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. In his January 2008 Harvard Law School Working Paper entitled “Conspiracy Theories,” Sunstein infamously demanded that the United States government deploy groups of covert operatives and pseudo-independent agents of influence for the “cognitively infiltration of extremist groups” – meaning organizations, activists and Internet websites who espouse beliefs which Sunstein chooses to classify as “false conspiracy theories.”

Cass Sunstein's despicable ideas on regulating the internet
Sunstein's book is a blueprint for online censorship as he wants to hold blogs and web hosting services accountable for the remarks of commenters on websites while altering libel laws to make it easier to sue for spreading "rumors."

Webster Tarpley: "Obama can turn off the Internet"
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is a deliver a major speech on Internet freedom in Washington just as the Justice Department has its first public courtroom showdown over its probe into WikiLeaks and Julian Assange. Investigative Journalist Webster Tarpley finds it interesting Secretary Clinton's speech was blown out of proportion considering it was announced President Obama could have the ability to turn of the internet.

And this is the book written by the man himself:

Cyber War - The Aurora Project

Arikel ur dagens SvD.

This Cyber War episode was on 60 minutes and belongs to CBS. The Aurora Project proved that network control to a generator is very dangerous. This shows how drastically a 27-Ton Jenbacher 1 megawatt type power generator can be destroyed by simply hacking into it from a common laptop. Imagine getting access to all of the generators in the U.S. and then simply pushing the enter key on your keyboard by one man. After a little control by use of the internet and some skilled hacking by an evil programmer or an Al-Qaeda professional, this could be accomplished. With one malignant hacker on the power grid, a lot of our economy will die. What will we do without electricity for 4 months or maybe up to a year? Our electronic and software engineers that create these interfaces that control these generators need to care about these liabilities, and not just profits. Even if they did, its still too expensive. Microsoft makes billions and even they cant stop hackers. The Internet is for information, and should never be used for generator control..

China’s Cyber-Militia
Computer hackers in China, including those working on behalf of the Chinese government and military, have penetrated deeply into the information systems of U.S. companies and government agencies, stolen proprietary information from American executives in advance of their business meetings in China, and, in a few cases, gained access to electric power plants in the United States, possibly triggering two recent and widespread blackouts in Florida and the Northeast, according to U.S. government officials and computer-security experts.

One prominent expert told National Journal he believes that China’s People’s Liberation Army played a role in the power outages. Tim Bennett, the former president of the Cyber Security Industry Alliance, a leading trade group, said that U.S. intelligence officials have told him that the PLA in 2003 gained access to a network that controlled electric power systems serving the northeastern United States. The intelligence officials said that forensic analysis had confirmed the source, Bennett said. “They said that, with confidence, it had been traced back to the PLA.” These officials believe that the intrusion may have precipitated the largest blackout in North American history, which occurred in August of that year. A 9,300-square-mile area, touching Michigan, Ohio, New York, and parts of Canada, lost power; an estimated 50 million people were affected.

I artikeln hittar man dessutom följande:

http://di.se/Avdelningar/Artikel.aspx?ArticleID=2009\07\06\343939&sectionid=Ettan
